·1. How deep should you microblade?
Depth matters:
Too shallow → only reaches the epidermis → color won’t last.
Too deep → risk of scarring and the color heals ashy.
Ideal depth:
Aim for the upper dermis layer — not deeper.
Remember: skin thickness varies from client to client, and even within different parts of the brow (e.g., the tail is usually thinner than the bulb).
Helpful analogy:
Think of the skin like slicing tissue paper, a paper towel, or cardboard — adjust your pressure based on the “feel” of the skin.
Understanding different skin types helps you microblade at the right depth without overworking the area.
Golden rule:
Less trauma = better retention and healing.
Practice is key:
Use various practice materials like latex, paper, fruit (bananas, oranges, grapes), or even balloons.
Different practice surfaces help you develop the right hand pressure for different skin conditions.
2. Handle the Brow Tail with Care
The tail of the brow is the most delicate area — you can often see blue veins through the thin skin. So, it’s essential to use lighter pressure and work gently here to avoid going too deep. Otherwise, the pigment might heal too dark, dense, or appear ashy.
