PMU Tips(26)--Choose the needle size for different skin types and the questions that artists should ask before picking a pigment

The following information is provided by the PMU master Sumei https://www.instagram.com/sumei.smsenka/.
1. How to choose the needle size for different skin types?
When selecting needle sizes, it’s important to consider different skin types:
#10 needle (0.30mm): This is the baseline and suitable for normal skin.
Slightly dry skin: Use a #8 needle (0.25mm).
Very dry or peeling skin: Use a #6 needle (0.20mm).
In general, the thinner the needle, the sharper it will feel on the skin.
For oily skin, start with a #10 needle, and depending on the oiliness, choose a thicker needle such as #12 (0.35mm). For very oily skin, go up to a #14 needle (0.40mm).
2. How artists should ask before picking a pigment?
Here are 3 key questions that can help you understand exactly what your client is looking for and guide you toward the right pigment choice.
Question 1: How long would you like your brows to last?
If your client wants long-lasting results(around 3-5 years), go with Hybrid or Organic pigments.
If they prefer to change brow shapes or techniques more frequently(yearly), then Inorganic is the way to go!
Questions 2: what kind of color fading are you most afraid of?
If you client fears ashiness or greyish tones, avoid Organic pigments-they’re more prone to grey shifts over time. But if they want the pigment to fade softly and naturally without unexpected color changes, Inorganic should be your top choice. As for turning red, that’s usually caused by chooseinga pigment that’s too warm or too brown, and that only applies to Inorganic.(Organic pigments don’t turn red!)
Question 3: “Are you okay with getting touch-ups every year?”
If your client is comfortable with annual touch-ups(every 10-12 months), then Inorganic is ideal.
If they prefer longer touch-up intervals(around 18-24 months), they Hybrid pigments are a great fit. And for clients who want maximum color retention, organic pigments can last up to 3 years between touch-ups.
So, if your client wants to decide when to keep or Remove them, go with Inorganic. But if they don’t want to change things up too often, then Hybrid or Organic may be more suitable.
Just remember:Once applied, Organic and Hybrid are difficult to remove!
